A fresh interpretation of a familiar complication
The PanoMaticCalendar Platinum demonstrates how dramatically a watch’s character can shift with a recalibrated dial architecture and color palette. Although it shares its core design with the red-gold sibling introduced earlier, this limited edition feels like a completely different creation. The combination of platinum, a dark blue skeletonized dial and refined finishing transforms the aesthetic into something much more modern and expressive.
Glashütte Original rarely disappoints when it comes to finishing and regional identity, and this model continues that tradition. While the 42mm size maintains the brand’s typical proportions, the overall presence is elevated through the use of one of the most understated but luxurious metals available: platinum.

Case design and wearing dimensions
The watch features a 42mm platinum case, measuring 49.4mm lug-to-lug and 12.4mm thick. Sapphire crystals appear on both sides, giving a clear view of the open-worked dial and decorated movement. Water resistance remains at 50m, a practical rating for a dress-oriented model.
The dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap and platinum folding clasp bring the design together with a cohesive and formal look. Despite its size, the watch wears with a confident elegance and feels appropriate for both tailored occasions and elevated casual settings.

A skeletonized dial done with restraint
The dial is where this edition sets itself apart. The dark blue open-worked brass dial combines matte surfaces, smooth finishes and concentric engravings. These alternating textures give depth without overwhelming the skeletonized sections, allowing the Glashütte striping beneath to appear through the openings with clarity.
White-gold applied indexes, blued steel hands and white Super-LumiNova accents create excellent contrast. The layout balances multiple complications gracefully:
- an offset hours–minutes dial,
- running seconds at lower right,
- the signature Panorama Date,
- a retrograde month display along a concentric arc,
- and a matching blue-and-white moon phase at the top right.
Although information-dense, the dial remains readable and visually coherent—a hallmark of successful asymmetrical design.

Calibre 92-11: technical refinement and strong autonomy
Powering the watch is the in-house automatic calibre 92-11, featuring:
- 28,800 vph (4 Hz) frequency
- 100-hour power reserve
- silicon balance spring
- adjustment in six positions
- skeletonized 21K gold rotor
- double-gooseneck regulator
Compared with the earlier calibre 92-09, this version incorporates enhanced top-plate finishing, further emphasizing the visual harmony between the movement and the open-worked dial above it. Finishing techniques include Glashütte striping, anglage, perlage and rhodium plating, all executed with the brand’s familiar precision.
The annual calendar requires manual intervention only once per year—on March 1st—to correct for February’s shorter length. A small corrector at the 2 o'clock position adjusts the calendar, while the crown handles winding and the remaining calendar functions.

On the wrist: refined presence with winter tones
Despite its platinum weight and 42mm size, the PanoMaticCalendar Platinum sits gracefully on the wrist. The blue palette lends a cool, sophisticated appeal that feels especially appropriate for winter and formal events. The open-worked sections prevent the watch from appearing heavy, and the balanced layout preserves symmetry even within the signature off-center design.
This is a watch that pairs effortlessly with a suit at an evening event, yet remains interesting enough for enthusiasts who appreciate mechanical complexity and regional craft.
